Donald Trump rejects White House climate report

The president of the United States does not believe in the report on climate change of his own officials. For Donald Trump changes in climate will not have an impact on the economy or public health of his country. In addition, he continues to deny the existence of global warming.

Servindi, November 28th, 2018.- Once again, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, rejected the content of an environmental report that warns of the devastating effects of climate change. This time it is the report prepared by the Scientific Research Program on Climate Change of the United States (USGCRP), an entity linked to the White House.

The USGCRP published its Fourth National Report on Climate Change last week, where it dedicates a large part of the 1.656 pages of the document to explain the negative effects of climate change on the economy, public health and the environment of the United States. However, Donald Trump's only response to this document was the following: "I don’t believe it. "

In this way, it is evident that the president of the United States has conflicts even with the officials of the White House. The climate report prepared by the USGCRP is part of the annual responsibilities that Washington must carry out by order of Congress.

It is speculated that one of the parties that have caused Donald Trump greater discomfort in the report is the following: "If substantial and sustained efforts of global mitigation and regional adaptation are not implemented, climate change is expected to cause increasing losses to American infrastructure and properties and impede the rate of economic growth during this century."

Internal tense policies

The statements of Donald Trump have shown once again his rejection of implementing mitigation policies in the face of climate change. Trump’s administration initially tried to ignore the impact that the report would cause by publishing it on Friday, in parallel with the so-called Black Friday, a holiday destined to the massive purchase of products. However, the content of the report has gone beyond the initial calculations of the American president.

"Climate change is transforming where and how we live and presents a growing challenge to public health and the quality of life, the economy (...) Annual losses in some sectors of the economy are projected to be in the hundreds of thousands of millions of dollars by the end of this century, much more than the current GDP of most of the United States," says the report.

At this moment, Trump’s administration does not show any symptoms of wanting to change their perspective. In fact, last week the president of the United States once again suggested that there is no global warming by expressing through Twitter that a cold wave is approaching his country. Another example of the ignorance with which he faces environmental policies.
